Coaching Profile:
I’ve been lucky to spend close to twenty five years coaching at all levels of the game both in Canada and the United States with players of all ages and abilities during that time fortunate enough to see players I’ve worked with reach some of the highest levels of the game and retain a love and desire to play.
Starting with local Eastern Ontario programs in the mid-eighties I have served on the Provincial Staff in Ontario, the District Staff in Eastern Ontario, and as a head coach at the Elite Youth. Collegiate and Senior levels in this province.
During my two year tenure with the EODSA over fifteen players from Eastern Ontario were identified for inclusion in the Ontario Provincial Team tryout’s with a half dozen of those eventually making the team and two those serving as captain’s of Ontario’s squad.
Formerly on the staff of the Ottawa Fury where I served as the Fury’s Youth Development Officer in 2003 before taking charge of the U17s girls program then subsequently the academy entry age programs for girls. During this time the teams under my guidance qualified for the USL’s Super Y-League Championships and in 2005 finished third at the US Club Soccer National Cup Finals.
Along the way I have served in many capacities with younger players – working in the OSA Soccer School programs, serving as a Camp Director for Post-to-Post Camps in the United States, as the founder of CanadaKicks and Technical Director for Coerver Coaching in Eastern Canada.
Throughout his time coaching I’ve seen the same pattern repeat itself. “We see players of all ages that are missing a strong grounding in the basics skills of the game. An early introduction and emphasis on the these skills would not only improve these players chances later on but make the game more enjoyable no matter what level they reach later in life
heuteporno.”
On the writing side I was one of the authors of the Coerver Coaching Club Curriculum in use by a number of clubs in Ontario and authored Coerver Coaching Canada East’s Coaching Accreditation program. I also served as Editor and Publisher of Grassroots Coach an online magazine for coaches and since 1995 have been “the editor” of CanadaKicks an online news site for Canadian soccer news.
